Where to purchase linens?
Hey all --

New to the forum. Looking forward to getting some additional insight about Guanajuato.

My wife and I will be closing on a small casa in late August. Initially, we will be using it as a rental property. It comes fully furnished, but one thing we do need to buy is sheets, blankets, pillowcases, towels, etc. Where is the best place in or near Guanajuato to purchase linens? Also, I have heard the quality isn't great and that we might want to bring them down with us. However, the shipping costs are quite steep, so we'd prefer to find them locally (unless you have shipping suggestions...).

Any suggestions you might have are appreciated.

Thanks!

Jeff

RE: Where to purchase linens?
As you will soon learn, "It's the little things." The last two night I have slept in USA made sheets. Oh, are they nice....

You can buy such things in Leon at Costco or WalMart, but the quality if far lower than in the states and they will not last long.

Welcome!

RE: Where to purchase linens?
You might be able to buy nice linens at Liverpool (SMA or Le?n), or at Sears (Le?n). I have not shopped for linens there, but can tell you they probably will be more expensive than in the U.S. for comparable quality. Or, you can do what I did: bring them in my luggage from the U.S. when flying in. That is how I brought all my linens: towels, sheets, pillow cases, blankets, and even down comforters! You can fill up a 50# suitcase for $40 or $50 extra fare -- less than it would cost you to ship them to M?xico, even if there was assurance of their arriving. Be sure to take everything out of the original packaging, wash it, and fold them among other things in your luggage. That way, the customs inspector (if you should get the red light) will know that you are not bringing them in for re-sale which is a big no-no. They are usually quite tolerant of things being brought in for your own home.
