FUND RAISING
 As a community service I have the privilege of serving as Treasurer of "AMIGOS DE LOS ANIMALES DE GUANAJUATO, INC.," (?AMIGOS?) but there is another group that is also close to my heart and that is "ARCO IRIS", a group that helps women in need. And of course Jacquie?s incredible work with the Cajones community. Please forgive me if I left anyone out. It is not my intention. Feel free to add your names.
I would like to start this thread with the intention to promote any activity that involves fund raising, in order to have a central place to make announcements in a central location of this Forum. ?AMIGOS? publishes an article in Chopper an average of once or twice a month. The authors volunteer their talent in order to promote education about the care of pets in our community. Please visit our new website recently completed by Ashley Fell, www.amigosanimalgto.org where you will have the opportunity to donate via PayPal. Since we are a nonprofit corporation, the Internal Revenue Service has designated us a 501(3)c humanitarian organization. Donations are deductible from US federal taxes. "ARCO IRIS.? Yesterday, I had the opportunity to purchase some wonderful lavender soap for $30 pesos a piece from Lori Wilson, who started the project. I understand you can also buy these from Colleen Cote at her English bookstore ?Donkey Jote.? These will help the women from ?El Bu?n Pastor? become self sufficient and gain self confidence to get out in the world and become independent. Some will get themselves and their children out of abusive homes. We all need help at one point or another in our lives and need to give back to society. I encourage you all to get involved in humanitarian organizations. It is so rewarding. Martha ;) |

FUND RAISING
Hi everyone,
 HURRY UP! Get ready for this wonderful event. You only have a short time for Fun, Foof and Fund Raising. Get ready for this... Resplandor International has been serving local and rural communities for the last few years, but few people really know of their work. http://www.resplandorinternational.org/R...lcome.html With this event, you can help raise consciousness and support for their important programs as well as enjoy a unique, one time performance event. THE EVENT We begin at 5p.m. offering a BYOBBQ ( bring what you want to throw on the grill) on the Zilch terrace. We will have botanas and of course drinks of your choice. A premier jazz/bossanova performance from the TUNA TRIO; guitar, cello and drums provides the ambiance for this relaxing afternoon. The program directors from Resplandor will present their programs and introduce the volunteers currently working here from all over the United States. Next, MELISSA ALEJANDRA, an esteemed and accomplished ballerina from Arizona will grace us with her amazing FLAMENCO show. This is truly not to be missed. DON MARCOS, a longtime associate of Resplandor and singer extraordinaire will present both a cappella and accompanied performances with Mauricio, an outstanding guitarist returning to Gto to after some time. Melissa also sings, and will present BOLEROS MEXICANOS and TUNA TRIO will perform again. As always at Zilch, musical surprises abound. There will be random guest artists, including your favorite in house cellist performing Bach suites. All of this while supporting a great cause! 50 pesos suggested donation at the door includes a refreshing sangria. If you bring your ticket from the Gene Byron concert, entrance is free! If you're addicted to the Fuislado BBQ, just come down with the whole clan afterwards to enjoy the show! Get out and support local programs! We are lucky to live in such a vibrant community so let's give back. Martha ;) |
