Buses to San Luis de la Paz
I saw a Flecha Amarilla bus today with San Luis de la Paz as the destination. However, I've been unable to find a schedule for these buses. Any suggestions?

RE: Buses to San Luis de la Paz
Best as I've been able to figure, Flecha is owned by Primera Plus, but the Primera Plus website does not include information on the lower-class Flecha buses. You could try checking with the travel agencies in town, but you may have to go to the Central bus station to get the information you're looking for.

RE: Buses to San Luis de la Paz
McMurphy is right Flecha is the 2nd class ver of PP. There are no online skeds however about every 15 mins. a PP, Flecha, Herradura y Plata, Triangulos y Azules o Coordinados passes the stop in Dos Rios for Dolores and points beyond. You might get lucky and get the SLdLP - if not there is sked service 4 times a day from Dolores - or just wing it some more with a local from Dolores to San Diego de la Union and then from there to SLdLP [city website]
Really not a lot to do there - plaza is nice and there is a 19th C farmacia. SLdLP is the connecting point for Pozos in one direction and Victoria in another [if you want to visit the far easten edge of GTO state and perhaps head up to Pe?amiller and the missions in the Sierra Gorda] |

RE: Buses to San Luis de la Paz
Agencia Frausto between the Jard?n and Plaza de la Paz maintains a schedule of Flecha Amarilla buses. Neither they nor the Flecha Amarilla desk at the bus station will hand it out, but you can write down (or better, take a photo) of the times. I'm guessing the reason for this is a less strict adherence to "schedule" for 2nd class buses. Likewise, many these buses originate from Le?n and other points west and can be running late.
While there isn't much to see in San Luis de la Paz, it is the gateway to the Tierra Blanca, Xich?, and the western Sierra Gorda. There are other 2nd class bus lines running out of the bus station in San Luis serving these points. |

RE: Buses to San Luis de la Paz
I went by Agencia Frausto this morning, and they do indeed have the schedules. The buses go every hour or two, and the trip takes three hours.
Mr. Duck, you've sold me on Sierra Gorda (although I was already aware of it because of Tony Cohan's fine book, Mexico Days). That will be my next excursion, after the San Luis de la Paz/Pozos one. |

RE: Buses to San Luis de la Paz
Rob, from Victoria into the SG is the rough way in [alt is to QRO and San Jaun del Rio and Tequispiapan then up] - maybe it is easier smoother now but when I first went it was driving over small boulders to Penamiller - great little town. I took my mountain bike and from Jalpan toured the two nearby missions and then drove to the others. Great trip !

RE: Buses to San Luis de la Paz
The road between Victoria and Pe?amiller is now paved. Likewise between San Luis and Xich?. Not a lot of traffic as well. In terms of public transportation, you would need to check the local carriers in the bus station in San Luis.

RE: Buses to San Luis de la Paz
In case you have time to wander away from the bus station in San Luis de la Paz, you may be in for some surprises. A few years ago I had a passable fish dinner there and bought La Jornada, rarely available outside bigger cities like Gto.
