Anyone Completed the Rx Import From MX Govt.?
We need to hire someone to help us get approval for Rx medication from the Veterans Association to be sent into Mexico. Does anyone know of such a service?

Nearly 5 years ago, my husband began getting his Rx medicines from the USA Veteran's Center sent to us in San Miguel every 90 days at no charge due to service-connected illnesses directly related to his time in the Vietnam War. Last week, we were informed by Susan Sargent in a vague manner that only he can accept his own Rx medication at the US/MX border. Susan sent us an ad for making a three-day trip at a cost of $250 a trip as though this would-be fun. She did not say that her import policies had been changed by the Mexican govt, but that was implied. We have no idea what aduana fees might also be charged to get his free Rx as our questions back to Susan Sargent were not answered. Perhaps she does not know an answer. A trip to the La Conixion office resulted in a web address to get approval to get medications sent to us. The form is five pages long with 98 pages of instructions. We were told that several weeks would be required to get approval.

If you have any ideas, please let us know.

Happy Holidays

There is a current discussion on the topic here

re: ...Susan sent us an ad for making a three-day trip at a cost of $250 a trip as though this would-be fun It would boil down to what the meds are worth wouldn't it?

The meds my husband needs cost more in one months than our three monthly social security checks combined. He had 11 Rxs when we arrived - he is down to four now. We tried to get one refilled and were told that each moth he would need to pay for a doctor's visit plus $4 a day for one of the refills. We went to four pharmacies to obtain a total of a ten day supply. Yes, some Rx are cheaper in Mexico, some are not, some are available, others are not.
