Chromebook
Not exactly a Travel/Guanajuato question but here goes.
I recently inadvertently gave my Notebook a bath. While it was covered by my "anything happens" protection plan I need a replacement.
Looking at Chrome books as they are very lite weight & seem to mostly fill the purpose of my needs. Do not wish to carry my 17'Toshiba all around Mexico. Plus at $199 to $249 cost makes for a easy buy.
Anyone here have any experience with Chromebooks?

RE: Chromebook
Just keep in mind the Google notebooks depend on an internet connection as all of the applications etc are hosted online.
If you just use it for email, Facebook, Youtube etc than it should be fine.

Just a update
Well I purchased a Chrome book 3 weeks ago. At $375 including a 3 year extended warranty it is I believe a good buy.
A little confusing at first for this 70 YO guy but I am getting the hang of it. Locked me out of this site but I finally figured that problem out.
Incredibly fast, a great spell check system & language translator it's light weight (under 2#s) makes it almost perfect for travel.
Only thing missing is Netflix that is promised "Soon",
I recommend it.

RE: Chromebook
We too gifted ourselves a new 11" Chromebook for Xmas. Three days in we love it! Fast, a bit larger than my Ipad tablet and a full size keyboard, perfect for 2 boomers. $249 thru Amazon, well worth it.

Yes That's what I paid but I am very rough on electronics so I opted for the "Anything Happens" Warranty at Best Buy.
Agree about the key board especially with my arthritic fingers. Just can't do tablets.

RE: Chromebook
Proud Ole Fart (& Wife) figured out how to use Chrome/Google video feature so now we can communicate while seeing each other.
Did this without running to The Geek Squad at Best Buy! LOL

RE: Chromebook
After almost 2 month of use I am so pleased to report that this little Mighty Mite with a 11.6" screen & full key board is all plus more than I could hope for.
Fast, efficient it streams beautifully allowing me to get my Daily Show/Colbert fix 4 nights a week, a great off line book reader & the Google Chat feature (available on any PC with a camera) is IMO vastly superior to Skype that I used last year with my old HP.
At a unbelievable (to me at least) cost of $249 cost for the Sansung version I highly recommend it.
