looking for plumber/carpenter/tiler/electrician

I guess the way to truly know if your getting a fair price is to ask other people what they are paying. When we did the rebuild of our place we got three bids from 3 maestros and they were all over the place not saying any of them were "Gringo prices" We choose the lower price and it worked out fine. However it probably wouldn't have worked if we weren't around the whole time. So $1500 pesos a week for the Maestro and $1000 for his helper They seemed happy we gave them bonuses cooked food for them etc.

It has taken me a while to find a carpenter that actually shows up when he says. And like Maestros the bids we have gotten from Carpenters are substantially different. Same with plumbers.

You might be sorry if you go for a do it all type of guy. Plumber / electrician yes but carpenters tend to just do wood.

I know a lot of Gringos that paid a lot more than me. What makes me special is my wife she's Mexican
