No way to extend it once you are past the end date: i must start all over again.
However, what i did not know last time (or maybe wasn't in existence) is that one can apply for 1, 2, 3 or 4 years. The cost for 1 year is over 3000 pesos, for 4 years it's close to 8000, so a fair bit cheaper per year, especially when you consider that it goes up every year anyway. So i will apply for 4 years and hopefully the next application will be for good. They gave me 60 days to sort out my situation, after which i'd imagine they would deport me. They also said something along the lines that a renewal would have been possible if i had been out of the country after the expiry date. Not sure i understood that correctly, doesn't seem to make much sense.
