We have both IMSS and Seguro Popular hospitals locally. These are full line with 24 hour emergency care, medical specialists and equipped and staffed similarly to hospitals elsewhere. Unusually difficult cases may be transferred to the corresponding hospitals in Leon (45 minutes drive) which has far larger facilities and specialties due to its 1.5 million population, compared to GTO at 150,000.
The local private Centro Médico de La Presa has a staff of around 25 physicians covering most treatment fields, cardiology, oncology, etc. They have a small number of overnight rooms and operating rooms and can accept emergency cases 24/7. They emphasize elective surgery. Ambulance service is provided. It is run on a cash fee basis.
