A little out of the way but worth it. Spartan decor: white walls, black tables and chairs, menus in Korean taped on one wall and picture menu taped on the opposite wall.

Take JJ Torres Landa which runs behind Costco [where it says Centro Commerca] and go a few miles. Go past the Walmart on the Right and continue on. Past the Malecon road. When you see a LEY Supermarket on the Right go to the far end of its parking lot and you'll see a 3 store strip mall. The restaurant is in the middle. Ryse refrigeration is to its left and a generic pharmacy to its right.

No need to go all the way to LEON for KOREAN food. A new place opened up here in GTO next to the panaderia on the main street, on the second floor. You may have to ask around there, as I have not seen signs for the restaurant, but met the KOREAN owners about a month ago. I have not been able to try the food yet, but I'm anxious to find out how it is.

As a resident of The SF Bay Area with literly thousands of Asian cafes as well as every other style I do not go to Mexico for such food but understand the need for long timers.
I always know it's time to go home when I start dreaming about a Val's "Mama Burger", the worlds best hamburger. Smile

Ate for the umpteenth time at Ariang in Leon this morning - they open at 11am and we were there a minute later. It has a much more broad menu [+Kim Chee] than Somos Correanos here in GTO. But if you can't get to Leon or want to experience a great bunch of Korean youthfulness Somos is the place.

Our experience last week: Sonoroa on Alonso was packed and there was a line. I thought it was too pricey so suggested we try Somos.

It was 1:50 pm. The 2nd floor windows were open and it was obvious there were people dining. The door was locked. We rang the bell and a young man in chef's attire opened the door: "Ready in 10 minutes" 25 minutes passed. We got his attention via the window and hand gestures. He apologized and said he had forgotten us. The door opens. We enter. He then re-locks the door. Up the very narrow twisty stairs negotiating around boom boxes and menu signs. We enter into sort of an apartment like setting full of young Koreans. In the Sala/Comedor is the restaurant with maybe 4 tables. Some Spanish is spoken. One young lady with ginger hair speaks English well. Menu is limited: Bulgogi, a Korean meat and potato curry and a few other choices. Our vegetarian companion was able to get something to satisfy. Plates on average went for 48 pesos. Food was very tasty and worth the price.

Note - everything is served in Takeaway boxes. Rice is on the bottom so make sure to mix the top with the bottom - as I was enjoying every bite of my curry I was met with a bottom third surprise - white rice.

Its a great place and everyone should try it.

Thanks for the update Mr Bill. I love Korean food, the authentic variety. And Japonese, Italian, Chinese and all other foods too, just so that they are yummmmm. Besides Santo Cafe, does anyone know of where, in el centro, I can get vege lasagne?

Finally had a-beef-and-onion dish ( with over-cooked rice ) at SOMOS KOREANOS last Wednesday. Just terrible -----tasting, smelling, and tough meat. I won't try anything else ( hate wasting money ), but hopefully for someone else, the other dishes will be better. All are about 48 pesos, and none are vegetarian. There are only four choices, the beef-and-onion; a curry dish with pork; sushi rolls with pork meat; and another meat dish I can't remember. Although it says TAKE-OUT, you can eat upstairs, it's just that it's dark, kinda gloomy, and they sleep and live up there, so you'll have to wait for them to straighten stuff up.
