Moving Household items and tools to GTO - M Webber - 01-31-2021 Well, after several set backs it looks like moving day will come for us this summer. I am interested to know if anyone has recently moved household items from the US to GTO, and what the best process is? If anyone knows or can recommend someone to move our items and tools please let me know. Thank you very much RE: Moving Household items and tools to GTO - Mikel1 - 02-01-2021 After checking into numerous moving companies, based in the US and Mexico, I opted to use a person who is from Leon and lived in the city our items were in. Not cheap by any means, but much less than a “professional” service. You can private message me and we can set up a call and I can give you more info. Too much to go into here. Our items were driven down in October 2020. RE: Moving Household items and tools to GTO - mr bill - 02-02-2021 I’m sure you have already looked into this but in case you haven’t, you’ll need to use a Customs Broker at the border. When I moved here eons ago there was a one-time pidiamento exclusion from paying import duties on used household effects imported within 6 months of your arrival in Mexico. Although the import was free of duty the custom broker’s fee was around $300 and it took them a day or two to get the paperwork done -and that’s in addition to the paperwork you have to have obtained in advance authorizing the importation. |
