A Mexican friend thinks of starting a similar event in Guanajuato.

I think it would be great to have a monthly or weekly market in Guanajuato. I would shop there if it had more, and more interesting merchandise than Hidalgo, Embajadoras, and the little market near the old train station. A market with antiques and collectibles would be my preference.

I'd love it. Especially if I could find a microwave there. It would be nice to look thru something other than just clothes.

IMHO the potential gto expat market is way too small to give ongoing support to such an endeavor. Contact Jules ( Julie Foley) and get her input as she had plans for such a Mercado 4-5 yrs ago. A lot has changed since then but the market remains still too small. One would be better off visiting Tesoros in Leon on the Gringo oriented tiangus in SMA

I agree with the esteemed Administrator.
Limited size of expat market, with many being renters not offering/buying permanent-type second hand items.
I would be doubtful of success. I have however been very wrong, very often.
