talavera tile and furniture - Ann001 - 01-15-2019
Are there any places in town that have a selection of talavera tile? I'm also looking for some colorful funky furniture--not the generic, big box style. Any leads appreciated, especially if they are in GTO. Thanks!

For the tile, there's a place out by Blvd. Guerrero, but it's hidden. You need to be on the right of Blvd. Guerrero as you are heading back to Guanajuato centro.
Just before you make the curve to the right that leaves the Blvd and enters the highway into town, there's a traffic light and a road that goes off to the right. There's a Continental tire place on that corner.
Turn right on that street and then immediately turn right again into a small street (behind the tire place). Go downhill on the small street until it mostly levels out - just a short distance - and on your right you'll see a wide entrance gate. It might be closed, but you'll see tile samples sitting outside. Knock on the gate, maybe holler, say Hi to the dog (he's friendly) and the woman should come out.
I was just out there recently. She has various boxes of Talavera and mostly sells it by the box only, although she had a few loose ones sitting around too.
