Blood type test - jesm - 04-27-2017
To get our Guanajuato drivers license we must present a lab report indicating our blood type. No analysis, just the type (A, O, O+, etc.). Where can this be done?

Note that you also need a health declaration, and you can get that at the same place.

To get your license you'll need to pass a vision test too. If you fail you have to go to an optician for a letter which states that your vision can be corrected. You present that letter at the Transito and you are exempted from the test. You don't have to actually correct your vision.

I just got my licence here in Guanajuato the other week. I knew my blood type so no need for a test. At the medical they will give you an eye test, the Dr let me wear my glasses for my eye test, and if you know your blood type you just tell them and the Dr puts it on the form.
The medical took about 15 min,( much longer wait time) they did the basics of blood pressure, listening to lungs, heart, weight and height. Very easy.
I showed my Canadian drivers licence and did not have to take a road test. Also bring a most current electric/water bill with your address on it. Your name does not need to be on the bill.
Make copies of your current US or CAD licence, electric bill and your medical report. Also if you pay by credit card it is much easier as you pay right in the same office. If paying by cash you must go to another building to pay and then return with your proof of payment.

"Eye test" is done at the Transito where you apply for your license. When I did it the 1st time 8-10 years ago they were using a ping pong paddle.It wasn't too much more sophisticated 14 mos/ ago. If you fail the test you go to an optician - try Nitido* on la Presa next to Cafe Tal.. Tell them you need a letter [they know the deal]. They will do a basic eye exam and then give you the letter. Then go back to the Transito. The optician makes a basic charge.
* Jes - if you go to Nitidio let them know I am still waiting after 60+ days for them to email me my Rx for progressive lens which I need here in Thailand.

Not sure what if anything we accomplished on your Rx.
The counter lady immediately recognized your name and situation. She said todo bien to everything and said the correo electronico was similarly todo bien.

You could alternatively memorize the eye chart from the internet not saying I did it but I know it's been done.
