Hola, I am currently planning a trip to GTO and a beach city in Mexico. (If anyone has a recommendation for a non-touristy beach city, please let me know) I am wondering what is the best way to contact a landlord about a rental? Skype or another phone app or...?
I would like to be in the hills, away from the center city noise (church bells etc). A 1-2 bedroom home with an artist studio space, a private walled in garden / yard area, a rooftop, walkable...

Never mind about the phone question. I have found out that I can unlock my phone and use a Mexico SIM card.

I've been to Puerto Arista in Chiapas, which is definitely non-touristy. I didn't go to Puerto Morelos on my one trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, but ten people recommended it to me.
