looking for a good place to buy a used car/van - dermotwa - 08-21-2015 Hi, Can anyone recommend a good place to buy a used car/van/jeep?..id appreciate it.. thanks RE: looking for a good place to buy a used car/van - roberb7 - 08-22-2015 Two ideas: There's an auto tianguis on the highway between Silao and León. Here's the facebook page. Mercado Libre has a lot of vehicles listed. One thing that's userful to know, though, is that to get started, you have to put in some sort of search criteria, such as the make and price range. Once you click "buscar", you'll get another screen where you can add the state as a criteria. RE: looking for a good place to buy a used car/van - mr bill - 08-22-2015 If you have a car now talk to your mechanic - if you find a car on your own have him check it out before buying - its a few hundred pesos well spent. I bought a used then 7yr old minivan 4+years ago from Cristian Vargas-Vargas Autoplex across from and a little further down the street from the Transitio del Estado. Still have the car and it runs well. Don't buy chocolate cars. You may not be able to legalise one regardless what the seller tells you. RE: looking for a good place to buy a used car/van - Lisa Andrews - 08-23-2015 I found mine online then went and got it from Leon. Make sure it has plates from the state you are registering it in, or the ORIGINAL receipt showing the payments from 2011 on from that state and it is the ORIGINAL!!!! After multiple visits to the office here OMFG stupid rules and they can't just call you have to get it or they might in the next 3 months to 3 years... Also make sure you have the original receipt signed on the back by the sellers. I have read you should meet the buyer at the registration office and do it together before you give them money, I should have checked before I got mine but it still works :) I used this website - http://www.seminuevos.com/ RE: looking for a good place to buy a used car/van - mr bill - 08-23-2015 "...I have read you should meet the buyer at the registration office and do it together before you give them money, " that way they can pay all the outstanding refrendos, tenencias and multas before those along with the car are transferred to the new owner. RE: looking for a good place to buy a used car/van - WRT - 08-23-2015 Reliable Car: I have a 2006 VW Derby M1 with 110,000 km 4 banger with AC will take $49,000 pesos price is firm and all documentation is in order. Very reliable car. Drive it back and forth from the border to GTO, gone as far as Tulum in it. Jeeps: I dont recommend the Jeep CJ's, Wranglers (most all run down and parts are expensive now). All the new Jeeps are junk and overpriced. Jeep Cherokees are good but go with a 4 banger, the 4.0 and V8 engines use lots of fuel. Invest in a Suzuki or Geo Tracker, parts are much more heavy duty than Chrysler Jeep parts and interchangeable with Toyota drive train parts. Plus the gear boxes are bullet proof compared to the New Process Jeep models. Van: I might have a van for sale soon. But it is a V8 GMC from the USA. Can legalize before selling it. A VW bug or combi is another option for the gto tarmac and dirt terrains. I will post pics of the VW next friday.
