There are policemen at several points of the city checking cars for drugs, as well as Mexican licenced cars that are NOT inspected for emissions.
I would suggest that if you have not complied with the law, that you leave home without your car. They seem to be everywhere today...
Make sure you have your valid documents on you as well... Just in case...
