Sesame Seeds - mr bill - 02-13-2015

Are they sold in GTO?

How many grams+/-would equal a 1/2 cup?

Thanks

Salud y Vida on Tepetapa carries sesame seeds. The smaller branches on Sangre de Cristo (under the garage) and Puertecito have them as well, but more frequently are out-of-stock.

Bodega Aurrerá carries ajonjolí or any bulk food store

Hi Mr. Bill.
You can also get sesame seeds at the Unicornio Azul or the Botica Herbolaria store on Calle Truco #16. I think their quality is better than Salud & Vida (there's also a S&V near the Baseball Stadium). Be careful at Salud & Vida. Check the dates if they are marked because they have a tendency to sell expired items. Once I bought a bag of chia seeds at S&V in which a few weeks later worms started to appear! A few weeks ago they were also selling cartons of expired coconut milk. The dates were in English, i.e. 1/2/15 is January 2nd, and there was a little label above the date in Spanish saying that the month appears first. When I pointed this out and asked the owner if there were newer cartons, ,she got all pissy and insisted that it was February 1st and there was no problem.

Check the site below for conversions. Figuring that the consistency of sesame seeds is somewhere between oats and shredded coconut, 1/2 cup is more or less 50 grams.

Saludos,
Barbara
