work for American lawyer in GTO? - krh28GTO - 02-18-2014

I came to Guanjuato to spend a few weeks studying the language before heading back to the U.S., but now that I've had a taste, I'm looking for ways to be able to stay. Does anyone have ideas for part-time work for an American attorney with a background primarily in human rights (specifically human trafficking, and women and children's issues)?

I've been poking around for remote work I could do to stay afloat for a few more months here, and I thought some folks in the expat community here might have useful suggestions. Any thoughts or leads would be greatly appreciated.

Si, GTO often has that effect on foreigners.......they come for a visit and become enchanted with the city to various degrees.

All the headings you mentioned could become sources for income in MEXICO, but, investigating human trafficking issues could cause you to run into some very dangerous situations. A number of individuals have been assassinated while investigating those issues in different localities in MEXICO.

Locally, there are issues that women and children have, such as domestic abuse, kidnappings and other issues. Although I'm not involved in groups that help them, it shouldn't be difficult to find organizations that are involved locally. Maybe work could be found there. If you don't speak Spanish, there will be some ex-pats involved in those groups that speak both English and Spanish, and could translate both ways for you .

bienvenido de GTO

If you are willing to bone up on wills /trusts in the US, you might find some takers here.
