since yahoo made some changes. Also can no longer consolidate my unreads or stars at the top.

The old Yahoo Mail had some features I liked and was even superior to Gmail in a couple of respects, which is why I continued to use it in spite of the stigma. :) The new Yahoo Mail sucks completely, and it's been down several times over the past couple of weeks. Unless they fix things soon, I'll switch to Gmail exclusively.
Regarding spam, I've always gotten much more spam in Yahoo Mail than I do in Gmail. My current count, since last Sunday, is 5 spam messages in Gmail, and "99+" in Yahoo Mail. That "99+" is another thing that sucks about the new Yahoo Mail: they're apparently so embarrassed about their crappy spam filtering that they stop counting at 99 now.
