All the backhoe work is done to restore and expand the burned home! To give you a better perspective, the house lot is about 70' x 70' (21m sq.). The old house was 20' x 14' including a tarpaper shack in one corner. Yesterday, the backhoe created space for an 11.5' sq. room for the parents, a bathroom, 8' sq. room for the two little girls, 13' x 8' for the two big girls, an 8' sq. front porch. The old footprint was 20' x 14' (280 sq. ft.) the new footprint will be 31' x 28' with about 800 sq. ft. under roof including a bathroom. The septic tank was also dug, so the family will have water to their repaired and expanded home. Their three bushes were relocated to their property line. A pine tree was able to stay in place.
It was d?j? vu for us since we bought that 1965 Case backhoe in 1997. We sold it to our GTO landlord 11 years later. And, now, it is back in our lives making a home for this young family.
