Time to cast your ballots! - malibug - 10-05-2012

Most states require you to return your voted ballot by mail. You can do that through a mail service or the US Counsel's office but time is short. Make sure you use your Mexican address for the return address on the envelope.

If you sent in a voter registration, you should have received your ballot by now. If you haven't, it could be a mail delay or it could be a problem with your registration. To check to see if you are actually registered, you can go to: http://www.longdistancevoter.org/verify_voter_registration#.UG8Tk1Gz6So. If you are not registered and the deadline for your state has not passed, you may still be able to register by fax or scan and email. Check your state provisions at http://www.fvap.gov/reference/links.html#svrvw.

If you are registered and have not received your ballot, you can cast an emergency Federal Write In Absentee Ballot (FWAB). You can download that at www.VoteFromAbroad.org. You will need to print it, fill it in and mail it back. (a few states like Nevada let you scan and email or fax it)

If all this is overwhelmingly confusing or you have a problem figuring out how to cast your ballot, the San Miguel Voting Project will have an assistance clinic Wednesday and Thursday Oct 10 & 11 in San Miguel at La Terraza Restaurant (opposite the Jardin) from 10 am to 3 pm.
