Building Permit - Mayra - 05-17-2012 Can anyone tell me what is needed to obtain a home building permit in Guanajuato? Are blueprints necessary, or can less formal drawings and photos suffice? Finally, is there an official list of building restrictions for the centro historico? Gracias! RE: Building Permit - mr bill - 05-18-2012 Hi Mayra, Yes building permits are required. There are two types: Obras Menores [under 60m2] and Obras Mayores [mas que 60m2]. The difference is in Menores you submit your proposal and if it is allowed you are given a year to complete the project. In Mayores a building inspector makes periodic visits. I'm not sure but even for my Menores after I have done my plans I give them to a local architect and he presents them to Obras Publicas [near el Pipila] I think other members with more recent full house construction can give you more detailed info. Also note if your project is in a Historical Area INAH has to approve your work |
