Covid-19 takes the lives of 25 merchants in the Mercado Hidalgo
The only surprise in this article is, it wasn't published a year ago. https://translate.google.com/translate?s...85526.html

RE: Covid-19 takes the lives of 25 merchants in the Mercado Hidalgo
In reading the original Spanish article from El Sol del Bajío, this apparently happened during the first 2 weeks of August. Tragic, but I'm not surprised. Vendors rarely wore masks since the arrival of Covid-19. Security guards would squirt gel on your hands upon entering Mercado Hidalgo, but didn't require or enforce the wearing of masks. Masks were glorified chin-straps. Shopping there felt like playing Russian Roulette.

I’ve avoided Mercado Hidalgo since the onset of covid. It just felt too cramped & crowded. It’s so sad to hear that so many vendors lost their lives.
