Are there mine tours other than these two?
When I visited Guanajuato 10 years ago there were two mine tours locally. One was in Valenciana, I believe run by the Santa Fe Cooperative. The 2nd was about half way up towards Valenciana and run by the University School of Mines.
Can anyone tell me if there are others in the area? A short review of the tours that I remember. The Valenciana mine tour was better suited for history buffs. Also, fair warning, you should be able to navigate steep stairs with high steps as you descend and ascend into the mine. The School of Mines tour was of a more traditional modern mine. But the tour was short and level as I recall. Maybe only worthwhile if you have never been in a mine. We toured the mine in Zacatecas a few years ago. It was much more impressive than those in Guanajuato. |
