Emergency Numbers
On Friday, I called the fire department about an obvious gas leak coming from the neighbor's 10 (count 'em) butane gas tanks on their roof adjacent to my terrazza living space. Previously, I had tried to get the neighbors to deal with it, to no avail. A fireman came almost immediately, and he stayed until the problem was completely solved. This involved tracking down the handyman who could give access to the building (the student tenants were all on vacation) through the owner in México City. The fireman checked all connections and regulators with soapy water, in addition to checking the integrity of the metal of each tank. He discovered that the metal on the bottom of one tank, the one closest to my property, had rusted through and the gas had been pooling under the tank, flowing to my terrazza, and even to my second floor if the door was open. Dangerous! The fireman cleaned up the rusty gas mess on the floor and hauled the gas tank away to be disposed of. I was very impressed by his professionalism and commitment to find and discover the source of the problem, thus possibly saving me from an explosion.
While he was at my house, the fireman gave me a list of direct emergency numbers which I attach here, just as he wrote them on his notebook page. Note that the numbers are different if you are calling from TelCel or from TelMex. Only the police number is the same. http://www.gtolist.com/forum/images/atta.../image.gif |

RE: Emergency Numbers
Thanks for this. I was looking for emergency numbers the other night and had a hard time finding them. An even bigger problem might be providing a location once you reach them!
