Print "Tucan" by Alfredo Zalce Torres
We are auctioning the 1975 print "Tucan" by the noted Mexican artist Alfredo Zalce Torres. See the first attachment for a photo and description of this print, the opening bid, and instructions on how to bid.

Wikipedia English states that Zalce "was a contemporary of Diego Rivera, David Siqueiros, and other better-known muralists. He worked principally as a painter, sculptor, and engraver, also taught, and was involved in the foundation of a number of institutions of culture and education. He is perhaps best known for his mural painting, typically imbued with "fervent social criticism." He is acclaimed as the first artist to borrow the traditional material of colored cement as the medium for a modern work of art. Publicity-shy, he is said to have turned down Mexico’s Premio Nacional de Ciencias y Artes before finally accepting it in 2001. Before his death, Sotheby's described him as 'the most important living Mexican artist to date.'"

This and the other two prints by Zalce that we are auctioning belonged to Helen Wolff. Ellen Finks, to whom Helen bequeathed them, has given them to Amigos in Helen’s memory.

As you know if you have seen our notices of our anniversary party on the February 15, we are auctioning many attractive articles and services to raise money for our sterilization, public education, and rescue activities. We are starting the bidding on some of the items now so that those who cannot attend will still have a chance to win them. (See attached announcement for details about the event.) If yours is the highest bid for an item prior to February 14 and no bids exceed it during the party, we will notify you that you have been the winner.

Prizes can be paid for in cash or by personal check from a Mexican, US, or Canadian bank. You may pay for and claim your prize at Calle Positos No. 96 (near the Alhondiga Museum) in the city of Guanajuato during the week of February 17-21 between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Please call 732-4588 or 731-1955 for an appointment. If you do not claim your prize by 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, the item will go to the next highest bidder. Prizes must be claimed in person. We cannot ship them.

If you have any questions, just let us know.

Once again, thank you for your generous support of Amigos.
