yet another aduana question concerning vehicle permit - Doyle Phillips - 05-14-2013

My vehicle registration has expired while in Mexico (on my tourist permit).

I have to go to Texas just for a day and Mexican aduana requires that the car permit be closed out any time i leave Mexico and for that matter my tourist card must also be turned in on exit.

I have read on line that aduana requires EITHER a valid registration certificate from my home state OR a vehicle title. I have the title.

Have you or any one you might know come in on the Mexican 180 day tourist permit and used only the vehicle title in order to get the aduana permit?

When i came into Mexico in December i had both registration and title so i did not notice whether aduana required both. Thanks, Doyle Phillips

...just for a day. If your tourist card still has 'time' on it why not just walk across the bridge and back? But then again if the purpose of your trip is to pick up your FM3/2 you had better turn your permit in as you'll need a new one under your enhanced immigration status - of course on driving across the bridge into TX w/ expired TX tags you may get stopped [that's why I changed my TX title and tags to South Dakota - a lot more inconspicuous on my occasional trips to Laredo]

Eventually i will again get South Dakota plates, Donaldo. It must have been you a couple of years ago who suggested doing it and the process was easy and not expensive.

But this trip up i would still like to have someone?s recent experience with aduana and whether the title alone is sufficient.

The Duck is not Donaldo. Neither am I, for that matter.

They accept EITHER the title or the registration. I keep switching back and forth for almost 14 years. (N. Laredo) Hope I understood the post correctly.
